Blog Introduction
Aren’t Blogs so 2000’s?
I can imagine that if anyone is stumbling upon this blog, they might be asking if blogs are still a thing.
Probably not.
I think all the cool kids these days are influencing on the 'gram’, or TikTok. Due to my particular love-hate relationship with social media, I’m not ready to commit to the latest iPhone, equipment, and extra hours glued to my phone screen. While social media platforms offer quick glimpses into our lives, I believe there's value in delving deeper, in exploring the nuances and complexities that can't always be captured in a fleeting post or video. In recent times, I find myself drawn towards the art of expression, not only musically, but through words. With the many hours I spend on all forms of public transport, which usually have delays (shout out to Deutsche Bahn), I would like to use part of my free/delayed time to document experiences not only for myself to look back on - but for anyone who is more interested in getting to know me, follow my adventures and thoughts as a singer and to look further than what is written in my biography. I can’t say that I am a fan of biographies, but that's another post for another day…
So what can one expect? I guess the beauty of having a blog, with my own interests in mind, is that it may very well be about anything! Of course, music will be a main factor, but actually, I’m also interested in the finer details that sometimes we miss when we are so focused on giving a good performance and reflecting on the emotions that come with being a musician. I hope to share some stories that I can look back on and see how varied my profession can be. Ive also got some funny stories about almost missing flights, but thats also for another day…
They say the first post of a blog shouldn't be too long; don't bore your potential readers, so I will start to wrap it up here. If you don't know me already, Hi, I’m Carine. I've been singing since I was 6 years old and music shapes my daily life. Once, I was asked in a concert in Austria to write something personal about myself instead of the usual biography and I think it’s a fitting end to my first post:
In order of human survival, one needs the basics - Clean Air, Water, Nutrients, Shelter, and Sleep. Ever since I was little, I’ve known that in order to live and to be alive, I need to sing. I crave deep connections with people, and the gift of music brings a closeness that I can rarely achieve with talking. In my normal life, I'm introverted and tend to live my life in my head sometimes. Music gives me the opportunity to translate a lot of my visions and create a world that I’ve designed, based on my life experiences, dreams, and feelings.
Happy reading!
