« The art of sacred allegory from Mantua to Venice »
Works by Dufay, Agricola, Isaas and anonymous
Graindelavoix
With this concert, Graindelavoix tries to prove the extent to which the music of the Italian Renaissance established a visual and gestural culture.
The major masterpieces of Mantegna, Botticelli and Crivelli are reflected in the music of Franco‑Flemish masters such as Agricola, Isaac and Dufay. When you see how those composers were able to ‘recycle’ profane music to evoke the sacred figures of Christ, the Virgin or Saint Sebastian, you will realise that remixes are, in fact, a decidedly ancient invention.
