Carine Tinney, Soprano
Age-Freerk Bokma, Organ
René Uijlenhoet, Electronics
Specially for this concert, the ever-adventurous organist Age-Freerk Bokma will let himself be inspired by the two completely different organs in the Lutheran church: the Van Oeckelen organ (1896) which is particularly suited to more Romantic repertoire, and the Edskes-Schnitger organ (inaugurated in 2017) which is a reconstruction of a typically Baroque organ.
Scottish soprano Carine Tinney and the composer René Uijlenhoet will be accompanying Bokma in this trip to Groningen; Uijlenhoet is well-known for his electronic compositions, and three of these will be on the programme today. The audience will be treated to a thrilling combination of the acoustic sounds of the organ with the soprano’s human voice and the computer’s electronic sounds – sometimes pre-programmed and sometimes manipulated live from the microphones placed in the organ. The title of the concert says it all: today’s theme is the colours of music.
A concert for the connoisseur!
